About the Knockabouts

The Knockabouts are a Celtic music trio playing traditional, contemporary, and original tunes from around the world.  One moment dynamic and charging, the next sweet and poignant, their music runs the gamut of emotions.  Whether in a pristine concert hall or raucous pub, The Knockabouts captivate audiences with their unique sound and personalities.

Playing the fiddle is Barb Rhyneer, a professional string instructor and classical violinist when she's not playing with the "Knocks."  Her husband, Tim DeMarte, dazzles with polyrhythms and standard Celtic stomps on his bodhran and cajon.  Dan Truckey plays Rhythm and leads on his acoustic guitar and Irish bouzouki in various tunings.  And when their three voices intertwine in harmony, something magical happens.  Together they create a sound that is unique and yet instantly appealing that has enchanted  audiences across the Upper Peninsula.
